Golovchenko on negotiations in Venezuela: decisions made that should be implemented in the near future

During his talks with Venezuela’s Vice President Ricardo Menendez and Executive Vice President Delcy Rodriguez, specific decisions were made that should be implemented in the near future – as stated by Belarus’ Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko at a meeting with media representatives

“First of all, I want to emphasise that the first visit of the Head of the Belarusian Government to Venezuela in the history of our relations was, in my opinion, very successful,” Mr. Golovchenko said. “We are grateful to the Venezuelan leadership for a prompt opportunity to visit your beautiful country and especially note the warm and cordial welcome given to our delegation.”

The Prime Minister added that this is especially valuable during the final preparations for the presidential elections in Venezuela, “During today's meeting with Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, I conveyed to him the warmest and friendliest words of support and wishes of good luck to him and the entire Venezuelan people in these important elections. We are confident that the Venezuelan people will unconditionally support the course pursued by the country's leader to build a strong, socially oriented, independent and sovereign state.”

Mr. Golovchenko informed also that a wide range of trade and economic relations were discussed at the meetings with Venezuelan Vice President Ricardo Menendez and Executive Vice President Delcy Rodriguez. According to him, the parties outlined steps to restart joint projects, “Specific decisions were made, and they should be implemented in the very near future. They will form the basis of a strategic plan for the development of bilateral relations in the coming decade, and we hope this will be approved by the presidents of our countries during their upcoming meeting.”

The Prime Minister stressed that absolutely everything is available to bring trade and economic relations between the two countries to a new level: ‘friendship and support of the presidents, warm relations between peoples, successful history of implementing joint projects, and mutual need for goods’, “Our task in the Government is to unite this all into a single mechanism. Venezuela is a powerful country in terms of its economic potential. It is following its own independent path, and Belarus will be Venezuela's reliable companion along it.”
