Germany sent 570 migrants back to Poland since early 2024
German authorities have returned 570 foreigners to Poland under the readmission programme from January 1st to September 30th, 2024 – as noted by Lieutenant Colonel Andrzej Juzwiak, a spokesperson for the Polish Border Guard, TASS reports
“From January 1st to September 30th, a total of 570 foreigners were sent back from Germany to Poland on the basis of readmission agreements,” Andrzej Juzwiak noted.
According to Polish Border Guard data, Germany returned 900 foreigners to Poland last year.
Mr. Juzwiak also said that Polish and German border guards jointly patrol the Polish-German border area, conducting random checks to detect illegal migrants. According to him, from early 2024 until mid-October, 59 thousand people, including Polish citizens, had their documents checked there. It is reported that 3.2 thousand foreigners were detained.
Under the readmission agreement, Poland is obliged to readmit foreign nationals who illegally entered other EU member states from Polish territory.
