Expert: Poland's military preparations cannot be viewed as defensive strategy

In his speech at the 7th Belarusian People's Congress, President Aleksandr Lukashenko said that technical modernisation programmes of the Polish army until 2035 are planned to cost $133bn. Do Poles know that up to $4,000 will be deducted from each family member, including infants? The territory of Poland and the Baltic States is purposefully being turned into a military springboard for its possible use by the NATO bloc. Military expert Aleksandr Tikhansky has commented on the issue.

“Poland places an emphasis on the purchase of the newest combat aircraft, unmanned aerial and armoured vehicles, multiple launch rocket systems and anti-aircraft missile systems of both foreign and national production. Vilnius and Riga are already hosting tens of thousands of American and German units, and 130,000 troops are stationed along the border on the Ukrainian side. A French legion is also planned to be sent there. The plans for military expansion against Belarus are obvious, and they no longer meet the legends about ‘a threat from the east’. The rearmament of the Polish army gives every reason to assess these preparations as the goal of forming a strike force in the main direction of the military interests and aspirations of the NATO bloc. Neither the nature of the weapons, nor the ratio of the size of the group, nor the military-political perspective of the preparations can still be viewed as a defensive strategy. These are the forces and means of unleashing war in a new direction, with the displacement of the theatre of operations from the Ukrainian territory to the Baltic one. The United States is at the head of this strategy, and it urgently needs to move NATO combat lines closer to Russia's borders," Mr. Tikhansky noted.
