BSUIR, Midlands State University agreed to liaise in Zimbabwe
The Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics (BSUIR) and Midlands State University from Zimbabwe (MSU) have discussed mutually acceptable options for co-operation, the BSUIR press service reports
“In June, BSUIR hosted a delegation from Midlands State University,” the university press service informed. “First Vice-Rector Maksim Davydov, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Viktor Rybak, Vice-Rector for Research and Development Viktor Stempitsky and Head of the Centre for Promotion of Educational Services Andrei Ushkurov welcomed the guests from Zimbabwe. During the meeting, interest was noted in the development of bilateral co-operation between BSUIR and Midlands State University in the field of education and science within the framework of the current memorandum of understanding (dated May 10th, 2023). In the educational sphere, the parties discussed several options for interaction: internships and advanced training, implementation of joint educational programmes, training in Master’s degree and postgraduate studies, including distance learning.”
According to the BSUIR press service, Pro Vice-Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Management Mcebisi Maphosa noted that only a small number of teachers at Midlands State University have an academic title or an academic degree, therefore there is an urgent need to address these issues. The guests were also interested in the Russian as a Foreign Language distance learning course.
As previously reported, in January 2023, Belarus and Zimbabwe signed a memorandum on mutual recognition of educational documents, enabling graduates of Zimbabwe universities to be admitted to the Master’s degree programme without additional procedures.
Midlands State University is one of Zimbabwe’s leading institutions of higher education, offering a wide range of Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programmes across various fields, including natural sciences and humanities, commerce, law, education and the arts.
