According to the Ada Derana information portal, the participants of the strike have put forward a number of demands, the main of which is an increase in wages.

It is informed that utility workers, postal and telegraph employees, surveyors, agricultural workers, school teachers and others will take part in the protests. Joseph Stalin, the General Secretary of the Ceylon Teachers' Union, stressed that teachers would join the strike on July 9th.

Despite the widespread campaign, the Association of Public Health Workers and the Sri Lanka Nurses Association decided not to join it. As a result, healthcare institutions will continue to operate normally.

Sri Lankan authorities have warned the population that the work of many institutions, including in the field of public services, will be disrupted due to the strike.
