Drift pilots from Japan impressed by Belarusian architecture, infrastructure, and hospitality

People in Belarus look happier than in Japan, drift pilot brothers Yukio and Kyoiti Tarumi said, sharing their experiences at the press conference in the National Press Centre on October 31st

They came to Belarus to take part in an ambitious promo video involving famous international drift pilots and Belarusian champions. Drivers from Australia and Brazil also participated. They visited iconic Belarusian locations and showcased their driving skills for the camera. The promo video they are working on is focused on an unmanned drift car, along with the best features of Belarus: IT innovations and culture landmarks.

“I’ve been to your country two months ago. It felt scary at first, but after experiencing your hospitality in the airport, I settled in right away. After spending a couple of days in Belarus, I felt like I’d been living here all my life. Your country is so clean and wonderful, and people here look happier than they do in Japan. After going back home, I wanted so much to come back to Belarus. So when I got this offer, it felt like a dream. I hope this was not my last time here; Belarus is the best experience I have had,” shared Yukio Tarumi.

Yukio’s brother Kyoiti added that everything he’s seen in Belarus (it was his first time here) looked like a movie to him.

“It’s nice to know there are countries where people live like in a fairy-tale. I was impressed by the architecture, the infrastructure, and the way you set everything up, as well as by your people’s warm and welcoming attitude. I hope this is just the beginning for us. We visited multiple cities while shooting our video, and they did their best to accommodate us every step of the way, blocking traffic on busy thoroughfares, with the authorities, the road services, and the traffic police all getting involved. Everything was top notch. I’ve been to many countries, but attitude like that is hard to find. I was impressed,” he said.

Brest, Gomel, Mogilev, and Grodno have already had a chance to see the shooting and the virtuoso drift shows. This weekend, it’s going to be Minsk’s turn: on Saturday, November 2nd, drivers are performing near the train station and at the roundabout in Minsk World; on Sunday, November 3rd, they move on to Nemiga and Komsomolskaya streets, along with the GUM building. On Monday, November 4th, shooting will start near the Dinamo Stadium, Troitskoye Predmestie, and Revolutsionnaya Street, continue on Tuesday, November 5th at Minsk Arena and the National Library, and wrap up at the National Airport on Wednesday, November 6th.
