Chinese Technologies Department may open at BNTU

“The possibility of opening the Chinese Technologies Department on the premises of the Belarusian National Technical University (BNTU) was discussed at the 7th meeting of the Management Council of the Confucius Institute for Science and Technology at BNTU, chaired by BNTU Rector Sergei Kharitonchik and the Rector of Northeastern University, Feng Xia-Ting, the university’s website times.bntu.by reports

“Sergei Kharitonchik and Feng Xia-Ting discussed the possibility of establishing the Chinese Technologies Department on the premises of BNTU and determined the vector of work on its creation,” the university informed.

The co-chairs of the management council also noted that, in 2022, the Confucius Institute for Science and Technology of BNTU should pay special attention to training high-quality specialists with knowledge of the Chinese sci-tech language, as well as strengthen university co-operation.

The Confucius Institute for Science and Technology at BNTU was founded in December 2013. BNTU’s partner in the creation of the Confucius Institute is Northeastern University – one of the leading universities in China, founded in 1923, which is located in the city of Shenyang, the capital of Liaoning Province. The grand opening took place on October 21st, 2014. The Confucius Institute for Science and Technology at BNTU organises and conducts scientific and practical conferences, thematic seminars, exhibitions, forums, sci-tech events for children, youth, students, graduate students and young scientists, exchange of specialists in the sci-tech sphere, internships for teachers and young scientists, competitions for young translators in the field of sci-tech translation, as well as courses for the study of the Chinese language at the elementary, intermediate, advanced and proficiency levels, special courses of the Chinese language for specialists in the engineering and technical profile, qualification exams testing the Chinese language proficiency (HSK, HSKK, YCT, BCT) and the level of knowledge of technical terminology by Chinese teachers.
