Belarusian Corner in Ankara
The Belarusian Corner has officially opened in the historical centre of Turkey’s capital – the Fortress of Ankara, as informed by Belarusian Embassy in Turkey
The Belarusian Corner is a place where everyone can get acquainted with Belarusian masters’ works of art. It’s been initiated by a Turkish collector and philanthropist, Erol Ugurlu who has Belarusian and Russian roots (his mother is a native of Grodno and his father was born in St. Petersburg), and realised jointly with the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in Ankara.
As noted by the Belarusian diplomatic mission, the opening of the exhibition of Belarusian paintings and art works was timed to the launch of the Turkish-Russian House of Friendship of Diplomats and Artists which also displays works by Russian and other CIS masters. Visitors to the Belarusian Corner were treated to dishes of Belarusian national cuisine.
The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the Republic of Turkey, Viktor Rybak, joined the Russian Ambassador, the Head of the Rossotrudnichestvo representative office in Turkey, the Vice Mayor of Ankara, representatives of the Turkish and Russian public to take part in the solemn event.
"In his speech on the occasion of the Belarusian Corner opening, Mr. Rybak stressed that Erol Ugurlu – as a patriot of his country – makes an important contribution to strengthening and developing cultural ties with Belarus, Russia and other CIS states. With this in view, the Turkish-Russian House of Friendship of Diplomats and Artists houses works by CIS masters,” the Embassy of Belarus has informed.
The Belarusian Corner features works from the Grodno Regional Methodological Centre for Folk Art, the Mosty District Centre of Crafts, the Shchuchin District Centre for Culture and Folk Art, among other exhibits.
