Lukashenko: if Trump succeeds in ending wars, we will nominate him for Nobel Prize
If the newly elected US President Donald Trump succeeds in ending the wars, he will need to be awarded the Nobel Prize – as noted by President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko in his talk with journalists at today’s wood chopping championship, BelTA reports
"He needs to do everything in order not only to make America great: let them make it great, but this should be done in the interests of the whole world if they claim leadership," Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed.
The Head of State recalled that Donald Trump had promised to stop wars (there are more than fifty conflicts in the world), including in Ukraine, during the election campaign. "If he does this, we will send a petition for the Nobel Prize. He will be awarded for doing a good deed. There is hope that he will keep his promises. However, the US is not Belarus: people there can forget, or something else. Nevertheless, we hope he will keep his promise," the Belarusian leader noted.
At the same time, the President noted that not everything will depend on Donald Trump. As for the conflict in Ukraine, the participation of two parties to the conflict is at least necessary. "He will try to end the war in Ukraine, but this is not a one-sided process. This should be negotiated, and maybe not only with Russia. This regards a lot of countries," he said.
Donald Trump also stated that he’s ready to put China in its place. However, Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed that no person ‘able to put China in its place’ has been born yet. “Therefore, it is no need to take all the words for trust. The promises voiced during the election campaign may be somehow hindered in the future. If they [in the United States] want peace and quiet here in Europe, we will contribute to this."
