Volfovich on security in the run-up to election: situation developing around Belarus causes concern
The situation in Belarus on the eve of the Presidential election remains stable, but the events evolving around the republic cause concern – as stated by the State Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus, Aleksandr Volfovich, BelTA reports
"The situation inside the country is under control. The steps that are now being taken in Belarus to ensure security contribute to the normal functioning of the state and the normal life of citizens. Meanwhile, the situation developing around Belarus today cause concern, of course,” Mr. Volfovich said.
"Unfortunately, all the peace initiatives and proposals that are voiced by both the President of Belarus and the country's leadership in relation to neighbouring countries remain unanswered. Primarily, Poland and the Baltic States continue their aggressive policy aimed at demonstrating military force and creating tension directly near the state border of Belarus. Apparently, they have forgotten the terrible lessons of World War Second,” the State Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus stressed.
