Ambassador: Belarus aims to develop comprehensive co-operation with Turkmenistan
Belarus aims to develop comprehensive co-operation with Turkmenistan – as noted by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Turkmenistan Stanislav Chepurnoy; the decision to appoint him ambassador has been made today by President Aleksandr Lukashenko
Stanislav Chepurnoy noted that Belarus and Turkmenistan have a long-standing friendship since our countries gained sovereignty and independence,
“After a forced pause in the post-pandemic period, interaction in education, culture, and sports resumed. The Head of State emphasised the need to develop trade-economic liaisons. The economies of our countries are mutually complementary in many ways. There are a number of areas of mutual interest for co-operation. These are primarily the industrial, agricultural, and transport sectors. At present, the parties are agreeing on the dates for the next meeting of the intergovernmental commission on trade-economic co-operation. Of course, Belarus is ready to develop comprehensive interaction with Turkmenistan and aims for a constructive and, most importantly, productive dialogue.”
Stanislav Chepurnoy pointed out that the trade turnover between the countries made up about $30m in 2023, “In previous years, this figure was at least twice as high. Therefore, we will work on replenishing at first our mutual trade indicators and subsequently ensure further growth.”
