“The parties summed up the results of joint work in 2022 and discussed a number of areas of bilateral co-operation in 2023, including those in the transport sector, culture and the media. The Chinese side presented the potential of its Gansu Province in the trade, economic and humanitarian fields, and also invited the Embassy delegation and representatives of Belarusian government agencies and enterprises to participate in the Lanzhou International Trade and Investment Fair and the Dunhuang Cultural Expo. Yuri Senko stressed that 2023 should be the year of bilateral visits, which will deepen interregional co-operation and intensify the implementation of joint projects,” the Belarusian diplomatic mission reported.
The Gansu Province (the capital is Lanzhou) is located in the north-west of China and occupies the territory of 425,900 sq.km. Its population makes 24,902m (as of 2021). Historically, Gansu was a vital corridor between China and Central Asia: an almost 1,600km section of the Great Silk Road passed through it. Due to its location, the territory has become multinational: the province is inhabited by Tibetans, Huis, Uighurs, and Mongols. Many religions have also taken root here – such as Buddhism, Islam, Christianity, Confucianism, and Taoism.
