Zavalei: mutual recognition of visas between Russia and Belarus will root Union State tourism brand
Mutual recognition of visas increases the tourist attractiveness of Russia and Belarus, creates new opportunities for tourism business, and enables foreign tourists to make cross-border tours – as noted by Igor Zavalei, a member of the Standing Commission on Health, Physical Culture, Family and Youth Policy of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus
Russian President Vladimir Putin on January 27th signed the law on the ratification of the intergovernmental agreement with the Republic of Belarus on the mutual recognition of visas. Thus, within the framework of the Union State of Russia and Belarus, a single visa area is being created. The agreement regulates migration processes, making it easier for foreign citizens to visit both countries on a visa issued by one of the parties.
The agreement on mutual recognition of visas is another step towards deepening Belarus-Russia integration, which is being successfully implemented despite Western sanctions against Belarus and Russia.
The deputy believes, “The implementation of various programmes for integration with the Russian Federation and the strengthening of the positions of the Union State is not an innovation, but quite understandable patterns, purposefully pursued by the leadership of the two countries with the support of the people. Much has already been done, and we really feel the results of this work. Today, the opportunity for a foreign tourist to freely visit the tourist sites of Belarus and Russia, having only a visa of one of the countries, will significantly improve the work of the tourism industries of our states. Firstly, it will expand the possibilities of travel companies in building routes. Secondly, it will strengthen cultural ties between Belarusians and Russians, enabling the Union State tourism brand to take root in the global tourism community as a single player in the tourism market. In my opinion, this is a very promising solution that will give tourism a new impetus.”
