Parkhomchik: tourist potential of Belovezhskaya Pushcha needs to be enhanced
The potential of the Belovezhskaya Pushcha National Park needs to be increased – as stated by the Chairman of the Brest Regional Executive Committee, Piotr Parkhomchik, at a joint session with the Brest Regional Council of Deputies, among which participants were the Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly, Igor Sergeyenko, deputies of the lower house of Parliament, and members of the Council of the Republic
“The Belovezhskaya Pushcha National Park is being rebranded at the moment. It is now one of the most visited places not only in the region, but also in the country. More than half a million tourists visit the pushcha every year, and the measures taken have resulted in a 30 percent increase in the tourist flow. Actually, it is far from the limit, because the potential is much higher, and it needs to be fully exploited," Mr. Parkhomchik emphasised.
As an example of successful development and management, the official mentioned the country's zoo landscape park, Depriz, in the Baranovichi District. It enjoys a great popularity among Belarusians and foreigners: this year alone, the park has been visited by more than 300 thousand tourists.
