PA CSTO international observers to monitor preparation and conduct of Presidential election in Belarus
The mission of international observers from the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly will monitor the preparation and conduct of the Presidential election in the Republic of Belarus, which are scheduled for January 26th, 2025
According to the PA CSTO press service, Vyacheslav Volodin, the Chairman of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly and of the Russian State Duma, received a letter signed by the heads of both chambers of Belarusian Parliament, Natalya Kochanova and Igor Sergeyenko, inviting observers from the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly to participate in monitoring the Presidential election in Belarus.
Victoria Abramchenko, the Deputy Chairperson of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, will act as co-ordinator of the monitoring mission of the CSTO parliamentarians.
As reported, in its conclusions, recommendations and activities in general, the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly closely co-operates with the IPA CIS International Institute for Monitoring Democracy, whose representatives have already begun long-term monitoring of the Presidential election in Belarus. Their recommendations based on the monitoring results will also be taken into account by the CSTO parliamentarians.
In 2024, observers from the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly monitored the parliamentary elections in Belarus, as well as the Presidential election in Russia.
