White House: US doesn’t view Africa as Cold War arena

The United States of America does not view the African continent as an arena for a new Cold War – as noted by White House National Security Communications Advisor John Kirby, RIA Novosti reports

“There is no Cold War on the continent. We are not asking countries to choose between the United States, Russia and China. We are simply looking for reliable, sustainable and transparent investment opportunities that the people of Angola and throughout Africa can rely on,” Kirby told reporters.

He added that American policy towards Africa is aimed at creating economic and social opportunities that contribute to the long-term development of the region, rather than confronting other major powers.
