India intends to launch space station to explore Mars

The Indian government is planning to launch an automated space station to explore Mars, TASS reports

The Director of the Indian Space Research Organisation, Nilesh Desai, quoted by The Times of India, said, “In the next two years, we will not only launch an unmanned vehicle into Mars orbit, but make an attempt to land it on the surface of this planet. After that, an Indian manned spacecraft will be launched to Mars."

Mr. Desai also noted that the Cabinet of Ministers of the country had approved the creation of an Indian space orbital station, which will consist of five modules. The first of them is scheduled to be launched by 2028, with full completion expected by 2035.
