Volfovich: we track our adversaries’ plans and will react if needed

Volodymyr Zelenskyy does not have the whole picture when it comes to the events in Ukraine, said State Secretary of the Security Council, Aleksandr Volfovich, when talking to Belarus 1 TV channel

As Mr. Volfovich reminded, the fugitive opposition is not ceasing its calls for violent regime change in Belarus. These calls, according to him, should be a point of concern.

“We know those who are fighting in Ukraine [meaning the fugitives] very well, those who join illegal paramilitaries, we know how those people think. They are focused on killing and war, not on peaceful conflict resolution. So, of course, paramilitary units like that being formed right across the border, as well as their plans and statements about violent regime change are a significant point of concern,” said the State Secretary.

He also pointed out the growing number of military exercises and military infrastructure improvements in the Western countries. On top of that, about 15,000 troops are permanently stationed across Belarus’ southern border, i.e. in Ukraine.

“And the most important thing is, I believe, the fragmentation of the governance system in Ukraine. Zelenskyy does not, in many respects, have the full picture concerning events that take place in his country. Anyone there can just decide out of the blue to cross the border and start a provocation. Of course, we are ready for that. We track our adversaries’ plans and are prepared to respond and defend our country, if needed,” Mr. Volfovich added.
