Lukashenko: Sultan of Oman proposes to create hub of Belarusian goods

Sultan of Oman Haitham bin Tariq Al Said has proposed to create a hub of Belarusian goods in the country – as noted by Belarus’ President Aleksandr Lukashenko in Muscat, BelTA reports

“The Sultan suggested strategic areas of co-operation. It is very important for us to define a point: a port, or maybe we will look at something else. And there we will use our technologies, which are needed in Oman. That’s why, we will use Belarusian technologies to set up JVs here and move west, east, north from here from the Indian Ocean, selling our goods,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said. “The Sultan made a very good proposal to create a hub here: a centre for Belarusian goods. Yesterday I honestly told him that we have learnt to produce a lot of things. We haven’t learnt how to trade very well yet. But they have been able to trade since ancient times, and they promised to help us in this respect. In short, there were no closed topics at all. Oman has a huge interest in Belarus. We were probably not very active here.”

“Trading goods first, we are ready to set up JVs here, expand production facilities and trade together. This applies to very many products and goods. We do not talk about it publicly for certain reasons,” the President said.

Aleksandr Lukashenko recalled that he had already visited Oman seventeen years ago and met Haitham bin Tariq Al, who is now the Sultan of Oman. “He met me then and accompanied me, so we already know each other. And it was easy for us to negotiate,” the Head of State shared.
