Volfovich: Union State Security Concept to become algorithm for government agencies to protect against external threats
The Union State Security Concept will become an algorithm for the work of state bodies to protect against external threats – as stated by State Secretary of Belarus’ Security Council Aleksandr Volfovich, BelTA reports
Recently, during the Supreme State Council meeting in Moscow, the presidents of Belarus and Russia, Aleksandr Lukashenko and Vladimir Putin, set the task of reworking the Security Concept of the Union State. “The current Security Concept, at that time of the Union of Belarus and Russia, of course, has outdated, because twenty-five years had passed. All the provisions that were laid down had already worked out. Because of the destruction of the security architecture in the world, which has been built for so many years, there is a need to determine the interests of the Union State, mechanisms for countering challenges and threats, as well as updating the directions for the development of the Union State,” said Aleksandr Volfovich.
The presidents set the task to start revising the Union State Security Concept during this year, and to submit it for discussion to the state bodies of Belarus and Russia at the dialogue platforms in 2024. “It is necessary to take into account the experience that we used when working on Belarus’ National Security Concept. It is planned to submit a new Union State Security Concept for approval by the Supreme State Council, which will be held next year,” the State Secretary of the Security Council underlined. “This document is primarily an algorithm for the work of state bodies on development of a defence mechanism against those threats that exist today in relation to the Union State.”
