Volfovich: today we see clear prerequisites for multipolar world formation
The National Security Concept of Belarus objectively required adjustment and adaptation to modern realities – as stated today by State Secretary of Belarus’ Security Council Aleksandr Volfovich at a Security Council meeting
In particular, he noted that in accordance with the Head of State’s instruction given at the 6th Belarusian People’s Congress, the interdepartmental working group – which included representatives of thirty-four bodies and organisations – developed a draft of a new National Security Concept, “This document objectively required adjustment and adaptation to modern realities. This is due to the processes and trends in the system of international relations that have been formed over more than twelve years of its operation. Among the key factors that served as the basis for intensifying work in the preparation of a new concept, Aleksandr Volfovich named the actual reformatting of the existing model of the world order, “Today we see clear prerequisites for the formation of a multipolar world which gives rise to ever greater contradictions and crises. The United States cannot cope with the role of the world’s gendarme and is no longer the dominant force in global politics though the US influence today is also great. The withdrawal from Afghanistan, failed attempts to break up Syria, loss of authority influenced the OPEC states, becoming a catalyst for changing the balance of power.”
