On the morning of December 26th, the Pul Pervogo Telegram channel reported that Aleksandr Lukashenko was warming up by chopping wood before the start of important negotiations.
The photo caused a real stir among our foreign colleagues: while the two-hour summit meeting was going on in a narrow format, it was almost the number one topic among journalists. It was also commented by Head of State’s Press Secretary Natalya Eismont. Later, VGTRK journalist Pavel Zarubin personally asked the Belarusian leader how much wood he had chopped.
According to the President, he also brought alpine skis with him. However, wood chopping turned out to be an alternative.
“Yuri Kovalchuk [Rossiya Bank main shareholder and the owner of most of the Igora complex facilities.] brought a whole trailer of wood, and I worked hard today. I have to work every morning.”
