Volfovich: tactical flight exercises are exclusively defensive in nature
State Secretary of Belarus’ Security Council Aleksandr Volfovich took part in the Belarusian-Russian tactical flight exercises, the active phase of which took place yesterday at the Ruzhansky training ground, BelTA reports
“During the practice of aviation practical actions, high co-ordination was demonstrated by the command and control bodies of aviation units, as well as Belarusian and Russian pilots, who successfully completed all the tasks shoulder to shoulder,” the State Secretary of the Security Council noted.
Aleksandr Volfovich also stressed that the tactical flight exercises are exclusively defensive in nature and are not directed against anyone. At the same time, they confirm Belarus’ course towards strengthening international security and demonstrate the determination of the regional group of troops (forces) to protect the Union State borders.
“You can see for yourself what a difficult military-political situation is developing today near our borders,” Aleksandr Volfovich said. “The NATO group in Eastern Europe has about 34,000 troops. The aviation group of the US and NATO in the European zone is more than 2,200 combat aircraft, including more than 140 in Poland and the Baltic States. The scale of operational and combat training activities is growing. Reconnaissance flights continue in the airspace of neighbouring European countries. Various kinds of provocations are taking place and the militarisation of neighbouring states is proceeding at a high pace.”
The State Secretary of the Security Council also drew attention to the fact that Belarus is not hiding anything from anyone. These tactical flight exercises are scheduled, are conducted in accordance with international requirements for transparency, and were widely covered in the media throughout their entire duration.
