Volfovich: patriotism cannot be taught, only an example of sincere love for native land can be shown
The State Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus, Lieutenant General Aleksandr Volfovich, visited the Minsk Suvorov Military School to get acquainted with the educational material part of the educational establishment, the organisation of the educational process, and to speak to its pupils – as reported by the Belarusian Defence Ministry in its Telegram channel
In his speech, Aleksandr Volfovich paid special attention to the need to preserve historical memory, to form an objective attitude of society to its past, and to strengthen the unity of the Belarusian people.
“It is quite natural that the Year of Peace and Creation announced by the President of Belarus followed the Year of Historical Memory, which took place under the sign of preserving the heroic heritage and the truth about all periods of the Belarusian nation’s life. After all, a successful future is impossible without knowing our past,” he underlined. “Today, it is very important that the historical memory remains forever in our souls and hearts.”
The State Secretary of the Security Council warned about the danger of distortion and falsification of history, which are currently gaining exceptional importance in the field of informational and psychological external influence on Belarusian society and especially youth.
“It is not permissible for anyone to manipulate our consciousness, it is necessary to always remain a patriot of one’s own country,” Aleksandr Volfovich noted. “Meanwhile, patriotism cannot be taught. One can only set an example with one’s own sincere love for the native land, careful attitude towards historical heritage, respect for traditions and values of many generations of Belarusians, as well as concrete deeds for the good of the country.”
Aleksandr Volfovich expressed his confidence that smart, strong and brave people are growing up among the Suvorov Military School cadets who will become reliable defenders of their Fatherland.
“Emotions from such meetings are only positive,” shared the State Secretary of the Security Council. “After all, these guys are the future of our country.”
