US president’s son to face the trial
Hunter Biden will appear in federal court for the first time in Delaware on July 26th. He will be charged with two tax offenses and violation of the rules for possession of weapons – according to information provided today by the court, Reuters reports.
The Justice Department said on June 20th that Hunter Biden, 53, had agreed to plead guilty to two counts of wilful income tax evasion and reach an agreement that could prevent a conviction on the gun-related charges, the publication said.
According to court documents, Hunter Biden received over $1.5m in taxable income in 2017 and 2018, but paid no income tax despite over $100,000 in debt.
The news of the indictment of the Democratic president’s son prompted a positive reaction from former president Donald Trump and his Republican allies, who have attacked the two Bidens for years, Reuters reports.
