US national debt tops $31 trillion for first time

The national debt of the United States for the first time in history exceeded $31 trillion – as follows from information published by the US Treasury Department, TASS reports

The US Department of the Treasury stated that, as of October 3rd, 2022, the ‘total national debt’ of the United States amounted to $31.123 trillion.

It is noted that the holders of most of the debt obligations are private individuals, accounting for more than $24 trillion.
