Union State parliamentarians note high level of Belarus-Russia co-operation in migration policy

The meeting of the Commission of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union State of Belarus and Russia on International Affairs, Migration Policy and Relations with Compatriots has taken place in Minsk – as reported by the press service of the Parliamentary Assembly

The parliamentarians were provided with information on the implementation of the concept of the Union State migration policy. The document was developed in accordance with the provisions of the Treaty on the Establishment of the Union State, priority areas and priorities for the further development of the Union State for 2018-2022. The concept determines the principles, goals, objectives, priority areas and mechanisms for implementing the migration policy of the states – parties to the Treaty on the Establishment of the Union State.

“The deputies noted the high level of interaction between the ministries of Belarus and Russia in the field of a unified migration policy,” the press service stressed. “Topical issues of forming a single migration space and prospects for legislative regulation were proposed to be considered during the next parliamentary hearings in 2023.”

The meeting was attended by Commission Chairman Sergei Rachkov, commission members Oleg Gaidukevich, Vladimir Dzhabarov and Aleksandr Omelyanuk, as well as representatives of the Standing Commission of the Union State, the Russian Foreign Ministry, the internal ministries of Belarus and Russia.
