UAE business ready to increase purchases of powdered milk at BUCE

A large distributor of dairy products, which is headquartered in Dubai and serving the Middle East and North Africa, intends to significantly increase purchases of skimmed milk powder at the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange by the end of the year – as the Emirati company’s CEO noted during his recent visit to BUCE, sb.by reports with reference to the exchange’s press service

According to the entrepreneur, the Belarusian market plays an important role in the work of his company, providing about 40 thousand tonnes of milk powder annually, and stock trading not only opens direct access to all Belarusian dairy producers, but also simplifies doing business in the republic.

“Of course, we are interested in increasing the volume of imports from Belarus. We have been co-operating with Belarusian enterprises over the supply of skimmed milk powder for quite a long time, but we began to actively use the exchange platform only in 2024. Stock trading is convenient since it unites all Belarusian exporters, and a deal can be concluded with any supplier and for any required volume. In addition, the exchange controls the execution of contracts, thereby reducing potential risks. This aspect is especially important for us," the businessman stressed.

In addition to increasing imports of milk powder through the exchange platform, the Emirati company is considering the possibility of co-operation with BUCE in other commodity items. In particular, the issue of purchasing butter and meat products, as well as the organisation of palm oil supplies from Southeast Asian countries for the Belarusian food industry, is being worked out.

From January-August 2024, the trade turnover of residents of the United Arab Emirates at BUCE exceeded $25.5m. Exports of Belarusian agricultural products generated about 77 percent of this amount.
