Turkiye plans to create new types of military platforms
TRT Haber TV channel reported that Turkiye, the world’s largest manufacturer of UAVs, will focus on the development of unmanned and autonomous combat platforms and create its own ‘Steel Dome’ multi-layered air defence system to prevent any threats to it, TASS reports
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that Turkiye is the world’s largest manufacturer of UAVs, with Turkish companies accounting for 65 percent of all UAV global sales from 2018 to the present. According to him, along with the production of drones, in the foreseeable future, Turkiye will focus on the development of various combat platforms: from unmanned and autonomous naval vehicles to underwater platforms and aircraft carriers.
As Mr. Erdogan noted, Turkiye needs to strengthen multi-layered air defence systems to eliminate many asymmetric threats: from preventing the penetration of terrorists to attacks by hostile elements.
