Tree and shrub planting day in full swing across Belarus
Trees and shrubs are being planted today countrywide, BelTA reports with reference to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection
All Belarusian regions are involved in the event held as part of the Together for Green Belarus campaign dedicated to the Year of Quality. Linden trees, maples, oaks, mountain ash, hornbeams, pines, willows, walnut, chestnuts, ash, lilac, spirea, pemphigus, forsythia and other trees and shrubs are being planted today countrywide.
The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection pays special attention to the safety of plants: seedlings require special care, watering and fertilising. According to environmental standards and regulations, the level of greening in cities should be at least 40 percent. This indicator has been reached by almost all Belarusian settlements, and some even boast the level of 60-65 percent.
"Landscaping is covering more territories every year. On average, about one million trees and shrubs are planted annually," the source informed.
