Tokayev on Belarus-Russia Union State: it is a unique phenomenon
In the context of the EAEU functioning, it is necessary to take into account the work of the Union State of Belarus and Russia – as noted by the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, at the plenary session of the 2nd Eurasian Economic Forum in Moscow
In particular, Mr. Tokayev said that the conceptual and ideological basis of the Belarus-Russia Union is quite serious, “This is mutual recognition of the historical community of the Belarusian and Russian peoples, recognition of cultural, linguistic, religious identity – differently speaking, recognition of the existence of one nation. One nation means one state. We have the Union State within the EAEU, and a unique precedent has been created in world political history – or rather a phenomenon: creation of a state based on the ‘two countries – one state’ formula, with a single political, military, economic, cultural space, and also with a single Union State parliament. Sorry, but even nuclear weapons are already one for two.”
At the same time, as noted by the President of Kazakhstan, there is another level of integration: of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Armenia. “We need to regard this reality. It is a conceptual issue of how we will work in these conditions, and it needs to be discussed at this economic forum,” he added.
