“People on the European border continue to be subjected to violence contrary to the norms of international law and universal principles of humanity. On August 18th, the Latvian military once again demonstrated brutality by throwing three beaten Afghan citizens into the territory of Belarus. Polotsk border guards found the foreigners in an exhausted state," the source noted.

The border guards immediately called an ambulance. Doctors delivered the beaten refugees to the Braslav hospital, where the Afghani were diagnosed with brain concussion, closed fractures of the shins and hands, bruises of the shoulder joints and legs.

The State Border Committee recalled that, in late July and early August, Latvian security forces also threw crippled refugees into the Belarusian territory, one of whom died.
