Shved named the amount of damage caused to our country during war years
In an interview for the Belarus Segodnya Publishing House, Prosecutor General Andrei Shved spoke about the amount of damage inflicted on our country during the war years. He said that the interdepartmental working group, created by the PM order on the initiative of the Prosecutor General’s Office, had recalculated the damage caused by Nazi criminals.
The calculations showed that our country suffered damage in the amount of more than 43,500 tonnes of gold in today’s prices. This exceeds $2.3 trillion. The specified amount does not contain exhaustive data on the damage caused by the export of cultural property by the Nazis outside the BSSR.
“However, the true scale of the tragedy that came to the Belarusian land in 1941 cannot be measured in money,” the Prosecutor General stressed.
