Sergeyenko: unfriendly countries openly declare cyberwar against Belarus
During the electoral campaign, cyber interference will only increase – as stated by Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Igor Sergeyenko at a seminar to discuss the current state and areas of improving the legislation regulating the protection of information and cybersecurity, held today in the House of Representatives of the National Assembly
“In this regard, the implementation of a set of measures to counter information attacks, as well as minimise their consequences, is of particular importance,” the Speaker of the House of Representatives emphasised.
Igor Sergeyenko drew attention to the fact that countries unfriendly to us openly declare a cyberwar being waged against Belarus, “The growth of cyberattacks on the Belarusian web resources, the termination of support for software products from foreign manufacturers, the spread of malware and data leakage are direct threats to national security.”
During the seminar, parliamentarians discussed the existing problematic issues in the above-mentioned area and the contribution parliamentarians can make to their solution. In November, it is planned to hold parliamentary hearings exploring the development of digital legislation in Belarus and, possibly, in the future, to come up with legislative initiatives in this area, if necessary. Today’s seminar is the first step in their preparation.
