Sergeyenko: potassium sales to be diversified

The state of affairs in the potash industry is not simple but it is not critical – as stated by the Head of the Belarus President Administration, Igor Sergeyenko, after today’s meeting at the Soligorsk District Executive Committee

Mr. Sergeyenko reminded, “The Soligorsk District actually accounts for a third of the Minsk Region’s industrial potential. In Soligorsk, Belaruskali – which employs 16,500 people – operates. True, in the conditions of sanctions and artificially created problems related to transportation of our products along the well-known channels via the Baltic ports (transportation through Ukraine has also been disrupted recently), we have to change our logistics and work with other partners – liaising with China and working more actively with Russia.”

Despite this, the company is developing dynamically and its teamwork enjoys stability. With this in view, as Mr. Sergeyenko said, the above-mentioned difficulties are non-critical.

“I would like to note that not only the company’s management but also Belarus’ Government work over this issue. Measures are being taken and considered at operational meetings in order to redirect the products that are in great demand in other countries. The politicians who imposed sanctions on Belarus did not think about their people. Sanctions hit not only those against whom they are imposed, but also those who initiate them. Fertilisers can act as a vivid example – especially on the eve of a sowing campaign that is being launched not only in our country. Therefore, the situation is not simple, but it is not critical as well; we are in search of solutions,” the Head of the Belarus President Administration added.
