Sergeyenko: Belarusian exports to Africa grew 4-fold in 2024, still room to grow
On top of traditional export goods, Belarus is prepared to share expertise and technologies with our partners in Africa, said Chairman of the House of Representatives Igor Sergeyenko today, November 4th, speaking at the opening of the Pan-African Parliament 4th session in Midrand (South Africa)
“We are interested in setting up practical co-operation with the African Union and regional associations, as well as in using advantages offered by the continent-wide free trade zone, to implement joint projects. We’re looking to significantly expand our partnerships in areas where we have achieved success and accumulated significant competences: farming and food security, industry, education, science and technology, energy,” said the Belarusian politician.
As Mr. Sergeyenko pointed out, Belarus produces the full range of agricultural machinery that has already earned a great reputation and popularity among farmers in Africa.
“Our equipment and machinery offers are comprehensive, and can serve as a basis for government-funded farming mechanisation projects in Africa,” he elaborated.
Partnering with Belarus is great, because, on top of supplying our traditional export goods, we are prepared to share our expertise and technologies, the House of Representative Speaker continued.
“This is a model with proven efficiency. This year, for instance, Belarusian exports to Africa grew 4 times, to nearly 500,000,000 US dollars in 8 months, which is more than in whole years in the past. I’m confident that we can improve this result if we take part in continent-wide and regional industry programmes,” he added.
