Deputy Foreign Minister: Belarus-Serbia sincere and honest relations act as example for many nations
The relations between Belarus and Serbia are an example for many nations – as stated by Belarus’ Deputy Foreign Minister Yuri Ambrazevich at the opening of the exhibition of paintings by Serbian nun Maria: Holy New Martyrs of Jasenovac. The show – presented for the first time at the Belarusian State Great Patriotic War History Museum – features the paintings dedicated to the Orthodox new martyrs — victims of the genocide of the Serbian people in concentration and death camps of the Independent State of Croatia in Jasenovac during WWII.
Mr. Ambrazevich noted that the exhibition venue had been chosen not accidentally: it symbolises the similarity of the horror that our peoples experienced during WWI and WWII.
“We are to remember the horror that our ancestors experienced, and we should build our states on the basis of the national interests, the interests of our peoples and economies. Serbia and Belarus are doing that, and – thanks to our leaders, governments, parliamentarians and businessmen who continue to co-operate with each other – a dialogue between our countries is maintained at the highest level. Largely due to the open and honest friendship that we have maintained over the years, economic co-operation is constantly underway between our countries, and our citizens need no visas to travel to each other. I am sure that sincere and honest relations between the Serbian and Belarusian peoples are an example for many nations – not only in terms of co-operation and interaction, but also in terms of mutual support. All this is happening even despite the huge distance that separates our countries,” the Deputy Foreign Minister said.
