Serbia urged Ukraine to prevent the use of depleted uranium ammunition
Serbian Health Minister Dr. Danica Grujičić called on the Ukrainian authorities to prevent the military of the Ukrainian Armed Forces from using the depleted uranium ammunition during the hostilities because this is a too risky step, TASS reports
Danica Grujičić said, “I think that no government that monitors the health of the population should allow anyone to use such shells. I just want to say to Ukrainians, ordinary people: don’t let this poison come to your country.”
She added that the consequences of the use of such ammunition can only be fully assessed over time. So, according to her, the citizens of Ukraine ‘will suffer in 5, 10, 20, 100 years’.
Earlier, a petition has been posted on the website of the Ukrainian President’s Office demanding to prohibit the country’s Armed Forces from using depleted uranium shells, which the UK intends to supply to Kiev.
