Self-driving vehicles to be tested on China’s public roads
According to the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the country’s authorities have granted approval to several national companies to carry out tests on vehicles with advanced autonomous driving technology on public roads, TASS reports
It is noted that nine automobile manufacturers have received the right to test cars in this category. Passenger vehicles will be tested by Changan Automobile, BYD, JAC, SAIC, Neo, BASIC Magna, and FAW while trucks will be tested by SAIC Hongyan, and buses – by Yutong.
The programme is aimed to create an advanced road network in the country with the introduction of smart technologies. It is assumed that such efforts will further stimulate the development of car production using alternative energy sources in China.
