“I invited Aleksandr Grigoryevich to Sakhalin, and when we talked about a possible visit, I said that when he arrives in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, he will see that it as clean as Minsk, and the same equipment works as in the Belarusian capital. Belarus-made equipment is of excellent in quality and affordable in price,” the head of the Russian region told reporters after a meeting with the Belarusian leader.

According to Mr. Limarenko, over nine years the region has purchased 900 units of equipment from Belarus: dump trucks, buses, agricultural machinery.

“Now we will purchase environmentally friendly equipment, as we are conducting an experiment on carbon neutrality on the Russian President Vladimir Putin’s instructions. In 2026, we are officially supposed to become a carbon-neutral region. We are doing this in partnership with Belarus. In particular, we will go to BELAZ and discuss the prospects of using a hydrogen-fuelled dump truck. AMKODOR also has a large programme for the transition of municipal equipment to gas which is very relevant and interesting. We are completely converting our region (utilities, agricultural machinery, and bus fleet) to gas engines.
