S. Korea and US launched largest live firing exercises in response to DPRK threats
On May 25th, South Korean and American troops began military exercises with live firing, with which the United States and South Korea responded to nuclear and missile threats from North Korea, Reuters reports
At the Seungjin firing range in Pocheon, near the fortified border with North Korea, American and South Korean servicemen launched rockets from a multiple rocket launcher system. About 2,500 people were involved in the drills.
“The exercises demonstrated the ability and readiness of our Armed Forces to respond decisively to nuclear and missile threats from North Korea,” the South Korean Defence Ministry stated.
Earlier, North Korean state media reported that Kim Jong Un approved the latest preparations for the launch of the first military spy satellite. The North Korean leader said that it is necessary to counter threats from the United States and South Korea.
