Ryzhenkov: idea of Eurasian Charter of Diversity and Multipolarity in 21st Century arouses international interest within UN

The Belarusian idea of a conference on Eurasian security and the development of the Eurasian Charter of Diversity and Multipolarity in the 21st Century together with Russian partners have aroused international interest. In his talk with journalists on the side-lines of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly, Belarus’ Foreign Minister Maxim Ryzhenkov noted that the ideas upon which the charter and the approaches to a conference on Eurasian security are based are in tune with many countries whose representatives attended the UN GA session.

At the same time, the Foreign Minister noted that representatives of the European Union are not particularly interested in this issue, “I have not heard from them that they are concerned that there is no normal co-operation on both sides of Eurasia. For some reason, they do not worry about it. They are thinking of a Russian threat only, and they see nothing else.”

Mr. Ryzhenkov stressed that the topic of Eurasian security and co-operation is of concern to the Global Majority – ‘including China, which has its own initiatives put forward by President Xi Jinping, India with its Voice of the Global South initiative, Iran and Central Asian countries, such as Kazakhstan, for example’, “They have initiatives that are very consonant with the initiatives of our President. Being in the very centre of Asia, this topic is important for them since they are landlocked but have decent resources and intention for co-operation with all those who are around them.”
