Ryabovolov: Belarus highly appreciates WIPO’s efforts for the benefit of innovative development of all states

This was stated by Director General of the National Intellectual Property Centre Vladimir Ryabovolov during a meeting of the Assemblies of the Members States of WIPO (World Intellectual Property Organisation), which is taking place in Geneva (Switzerland) – as reported by the press service of the State Committee on Science and Technology of Belarus

He also said that a range of WIPO projects are being successfully implemented in Belarus, including a project on the implementation of institutional policy in the field of intellectual property for universities and research organisations. The network of technology and innovation support centres is actively developing while the innovative potential of technology parks is being consistently strengthened within the framework of a joint project of WIPO and the Eurasian Patent Office. Moreover, active work is also underway to join the Lisbon System for the Protection of Appellations of Origin and Geographical Indications.

At the same time, Vladimir Ryabovolov expressed concern about the attempts to politicise the sphere of intellectual property.

“Illegal unilateral coercive measures undermine the efforts of WIPO and its member states to create conditions for innovation and creativity, economic, social and cultural development for the benefit of all and everyone.

As part of the WIPO Assemblies, the Belarusian delegation is scheduled to have a number of meetings, focusing on the implementation of the memorandum of understanding between the Government of Belarus and WIPO.
