Lukashenko on use of nuclear weapons and war

An attack on Belarus would mean the beginning of WWIII – as stated by President Aleksandr Lukashenko during his today’s meeting in the open mic format with students of universities specialising in engineering and technical subjects

During his conversation with young people, the Head of State also touched upon geopolitical issues on the agenda, stressing that an attack on Belarus or Russia would become the beginning of World War III. As noted by the Belarusian leader, the same was also confirmed by Russian President Vladimir Putin, when he commented upon the amendments to the nuclear doctrine, “In case of an attack on Russia and Belarus, we [Russia] will use nuclear weapons. He confirmed my words. That was the key point of my statement: if they attack us, we understand that NATO is NATO, Americans and Poles are already stationed along our border, and the Polish leadership is already rubbing their hands – and so we will use nuclear weapons. Russia will support us in this endeavour.”

The President added: such an escalation will provoke a global conflict that no one wants. With this in view, Belarus is reminding the West once again: the state border of the country is Belarus’ red line. “The response will be immediate if someone dares to cross it. We are getting prepared for this, and I am honestly voicing it,” the Head of State stressed.

Referring to the Ukrainian conflict, Aleksandr Lukashenko emphasised, “It is necessary to come to an agreement with Ukrainians. We need to stop this war... Do you remember how large-scale the Second World War was? Think of the Great Patriotic War... Belarus was destroyed altogether, but it seemed that we – your generation and even mine – had normal relations with Germans. Actually, the human memory, whatever it may be, can heal these wounds. It's the same with Ukrainians, but the situation should better not develop further. Much has already been done there, so it is necessary to come to an agreement. It is my firm position.”

The Belarusian leader openly said that contacts are maintained with the Ukrainian side through certain channels, “You see our relations with Russians. We are doing our best through these contacts, but Zelenskyy does not hear this yet – and he does not want to listen to. This is because Americans are pushing them into this war.”

The President once again emphasised that the ongoing conflict is beneficial to the United States, “Americans do not need a strong Europe. [They consider] Europe should fight there, in Ukraine, and so on. They will give them money for this purpose, it’s simply needed to print this money. Dollar-related inflation has spread all over the world, but they are printing money. They have allocated billions [of Dollars] more to Volodymyr Zelenskyy recently, so that he could continue the war. Moreover, they [Americans] are developing their military-industrial complex and supplying weapons, and the money remains in the United States.”

The Head of State has repeatedly shared his opinion that high-tech Western Europe could successfully develop in co-operation with resource-rich Russia. However, at present, many Western companies – i.e. in Germany – are closing their production facilities because they fail to withstand competition.
