“My advice to you, based on my experience, is that in no case should you break away from your land. We see these fugitives now. They call my press secretary, asking her to tell me their requests. They write letters to me that they have made a mistake and want to return. I tell them that we have a commission headed by the Prosecutor General, so apply to the commission and prove everything. They all took pictures against the background of white-red-white flags, etc. And that’s all remains. We have a whole archive. They think we don’t know what they were doing there.”

According to the President, everyone needs to explain their actions, because everything may happen. “Sometimes, as we say, people lose their wits and make mistakes. We are interested in their return to the homeland. This is very important for me personally. But if they are guilty, they must answer according to the law. They must apply to the commission,” he said.

The Head of State noted that at that time many people, especially young people, did not think properly and just joined the general crowd. “It’s one thing when they were walking in a crowd somewhere, it’s another when they committed a criminal offense. We are looking into it thoroughly in order to return them,” the Head of State noted. “But those who have committed serious crimes won’t return here.”

Aleksandr Lukashenko noted that the money that the West currently gives to Belarusian fugitives and the opposition is spent by the top and doesn’t reach the rest, “Money is channelled through them, and they spend it. And these, I call them poor fellows who ran to the West, have no money.” As a result, these people in Poland have to do the lowest-paying job, like washing dishes for example.

“That’s why I say: don’t be carried away and never rush. Patience is important. It’s necessary to wait for some time. That’s the way to do it. In any case, do not do anything on a whim. Never rush. Yes, we have to go fast, but not in a hurry. We have to be careful. Think, check, consult. But get a foothold on your land,” the President advised.
