Russian political observer: it will be fine with Belarus further with President like Lukashenko

The Belarusian leader’s readiness to defend the state with an assault rifle in his hands in 2020 testifies to a deep understanding of the historical nature of things, and it will be fine with Belarus further with a president like Lukashenko – as noted by Russian political observer Dmitry Kulikov in his talk with the ONT TV channel

Mr. Kulikov said that Belarus, as a young state, is successfully solving problems that many – not only in the post-Soviet space, but also around the world – have failed to cope with.

“I have great respect for the Belarusian state and the Belarusian people. I think that you are doing everything right, solving such problems of a young – in the historical sense – state that many have not been able to overcome. Several crises have been historically resolved, I am sure that everything will continue to be fine," the expert noted.

Mr. Kulikov stressed that, within the post-Soviet space, Belarus showed – if not completely proved – what it is able of, and this is largely the merit of its President.

“When Lukashenko came out with an assault rifle, many giggled, but I – based on my historical and philosophical grounds – realised that Aleksandr Grigorievich well understood the ratio of power and its price. This is life, actually. His willingness to protect the state from death at the cost of his own life was not just a strong gesture, but a deep understanding of the historical nature of the things we are dealing with," the political observer stressed.
