Russian FM spokesperson: allowing Ukraine to strike deep into Russia will be regarded as NATO’s entry into direct conflict
The Kremlin will regard allowing Ukraine to strike deep into Russian territory as the entry of NATO members into a direct armed conflict, and the Russian response to this decision will be inevitable and destructive for the West – as noted by Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova, TASS reports
At the briefing, the diplomat commented on the publication in the British press about the plans of Prime Minister Keir Starmer and French President Emmanuel Macron to try to convince the current American leader Joe Biden to allow Ukraine to use Storm Shadow missile to strike deep into Russia before the inauguration of US President-elect Donald Trump. It was also pointed out that there are hopes in the UK that the White House will agree to such a move.
“If the Kiev regime receives permission for the above-mentioned strikes, we will regard this as the actual entry of NATO countries into a direct armed conflict with Russia. This will change the essence of the conflict, its nature, with all the ensuing consequences. The response to the use of Western long-range systems on the territory of our country will be inevitable and destructive for them,” Ms. Zakharova replied.
She drew attention to the fact that at the same time Ukrainian social networks published information about the desire of Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s regime to pass off Western missiles as Ukrainian-made products by changing their labelling in order to hit Russia with them.
“This is such bloody cheating. Everything is in the style of Zelenskyy and this whole gang,” said the Russian Foreign Ministry official representative. “But we understand perfectly well that this is impossible without the approval of his curators. We would like to remind Washington, London, Paris and Brussels that they continue to play with fire. These facts once again confirm the urgency of a special military operation to denazify and demilitarise Ukraine and eliminate the threats emanating from its territory.”
