Reuters: Romania, Bulgaria, Greece signed military mobility agreement
Romania, Bulgaria and Greece signed an agreement on July 11th that will allow for the rapid cross-border transfer of troops and weapons to the eastern flank of NATO, Reuters reports with reference to the Romanian Defence Ministry
NATO said that too many bureaucratic delays are hindering the movement of troops across Europe.
"The planned harmonised military mobility corridor between the three NATO and EU states was one of two such mobility corridors agreed on the sidelines of the NATO Summit in Washington,” the publication reads.
As noted by the Romanian Defence Ministry, the purpose of this agreement is to optimise transport corridors ‘to respond to military mobility needs by creating road and rail supply lines between the participating states, reducing peace time bureaucracy and maximising efficiency in case of emergency situations’.
