Prospects for development of Belarusian-Omani stock exchange trade discussed
The possibilities of using the exchange mechanism to enhance mutual trade between Oman and Belarus were discussed at a meeting of the delegation of the Ministry of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade with representatives of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion of the Sultanate held in Muscat, sb.by reports with reference to the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange (BUCE)
The sale of agricultural products is considered as a priority area of bilateral co-operation in the exchange sector. In particular, it is planned to use the BUCE platform to supply Belarusian dairy products to the Omani market, and the first Omani company has already been accredited on the exchange for this purpose.
“Milk powder, which is widely used in the country's food industry, is of the greatest interest to the Omani side. Therefore, it is advisable to start stock trading with Oman with this commodity position. At the same time, it should be noted that companies from two neighbouring countries — the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia — are already purchasing Belarusian dairy products through the exchange platform. The first transactions on skimmed milk powder were registered a week ago, almost 5 thousand tonnes were bought,” BUCE spokesman Roman Yaniv informed.
In the future, in addition to dairy products, the range of Belarusian goods supplied to Oman through the stock exchange can be expanded and include rapeseed oil, beet pulp and molasses, sugar, amino acids, and feed additives. Negotiations with potential buyers took place at the B2B meetings held after the end of the presentation part of the Belarusian-Omani business forum.
