Prosecutor General's Office commented on progress in investigation of criminal case of genocide of Belarusian people

The investigation of the criminal case on the genocide of the Belarusian people during the Great Patriotic War and the post-war period continues – as stated at a recent meeting of the Board of the Prosecutor General's Office, sb.by reports with reference to the press service of the department

By the beginning of 2024, over 18.1 thousand people had been interrogated in the criminal case. Archival documents, including those provided by the Russian Federation, have been actively studied, and field searches are underway: forty of them have already been carried out this year.

In December 2023, the Prosecutor General's Office completed a preliminary investigation and sent a criminal case against the Nazi punisher V. K. Katryuk, accused of genocide under Article 127 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus, to the Supreme Court.

Work is actively underway to preserve the national historical memory, and the third edition of Punitive Operations. Part 1, from the Genocide of the Belarusian People cycle, has been released. The book contains information and analytical materials and documents.

In December 2023, the Prosecutor General's Office organised an international scientific and practical conference dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the adoption of the United Nations Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide.
